Installation
Serena Shades by Lutron
Installing Serena Shades takes a few tools that aren't included with the Lutron-backed window covering. Each part of the shade must be installed separately - from leveling and drilling in the brackets to installing the appropriate batteries into the roller shade's headrail.
MySmartBlinds
MySmartBlinds come equipped with their patented SmartLock technology: a built-in installation hardware that makes putting your blinds up a cinch. Simply stick the included brackets to the window frame and slide the blinds in, snapping the lever in place.
Hunter Douglas PowerView
Hunter Douglas' PowerView roller shades have a similar installation process to Serena Shades: homeowners must drill brackets into their window frame, then put batteries in the headrail and make sure the headrail is aligned with the socket of the shade. Then, setting up the remote takes additional setup time.
App control
Serena Shades by Lutron
Serena Shades are compatible via smartphone app and come with features like scenes and scheduling, where you can program your shades to shut or open based on what time of day it is.
MySmartBlinds
The MySmartBlinds app gives you access to all the rooms in your home including scheduling, battery updates, and sun-tracking. Plus, you can enable Energy Savings mode from the app, without integrating with another smart home device to control temperature with MySmartBlinds.
Hunter Douglas PowerView
PowerView is compatible with many home automation systems, but app control is not available unless you have a home automation hub.
